Wine Rules Are Made for Breaking
As someone who obtained her understanding of wine (and other fine things) from a pilfered copy of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy: The Book,” I am going to begin by saying that I don’t really know anything about wine. However, I was aware of some of the mythologies about what wine = when, which the people over at Slashfood seem to want to break.
They have pointed out the flaws in four different wine myths. Go check it out to impress at your next boozy get-together, or to ponder whether or not that prosecco goes with oreos (I argue yes).
Holiday (or Any day, really) Kitchen Gifts
So Wisebread (a frugal living blog and one of my faves) has a list of 9 Awesome Kitchen Gifts. They range from a stainless steel water bottle to a fully automated ice cream maker. Me? I really liked the Electric Tea Kettle (hint hint). Makes things up in a jiffy, doesn’t require stove, easily hidden from residence life if you’re in college…er…*ahem*
However, might I recommend a gift for your favorite greenie/foodie? Try an induction oven. Why? One, they are trendy as all get out. Two? They are insanely energy efficient. But make sure your intended giftee has the right kinds of pans (ferromagnetic)! Also, how it works, for those curious types.
Make Your Own Candy Canes
Must I really add to this? Just make them.
